Meet James Medlock: The man behind "Omaha Politics (.com)"
Politics is by far the most important news there is. It effects our children’s education, our financial well-being, and new laws are passed every day and we’re told ignorance of those laws is no excuse for not abiding by them.
The problem is we can hardly stomach reading it anymore. The democrats are doing this, republicans are doing that, someone wants to take away your right to choose, and someone else wants you to murder your babies. It’s deplorable.
What if someone just told us what was going on and let us decide for ourselves how we felt about it. It’s a difficult task, don’t get me wrong. Sometimes we have to go through several drafts before a story is suitable for print. All of us here have our own political views, but we make sure that the paper doesn’t. And if you think that makes for boring articles, well you don’t know Omaha Politics.
There are so many news stories, from so many news sources, that aim to mislead those of us that get our news at a glance.
Not only will you never find that in our paper, but we will correct any competitor we see doing it (within our journalistic jurisdiction).
It’s Our Namesake –
Governor Wallace’s actions in Alabama, the National Guard’s actions at Kent State. The only way to arrest government injustice is to report on it. Mostly it’s small stuff; like the store clerk in North Carolina, or the widower in Fort Lauderdale, but it’s big to us, and it feels pretty big to them too.
I maintain an open-door policy. Not just with my employees, but also with my vendors and advertisers, readers and critics. You're welcome to call me if you feel the need.

There's a Reason We Worked So Hard to Be Here...
Punching-up is a term used in the industry when a “lesser” publication makes their bones by attacking the more established news sources. It is a shameless, deplorable act. That is unless those established news sources are purposely misleading the public. Then it’s just responsible journalism.
